Melbourne City Tote

This lively and cosmopolitan city sitting on the banks of the Yarra River is a tidy balanced grid of neatly angled streets, with the CBD made up of different enclaves, each with its own unique colour, character and charm.  Preserved colonial heritage co-exists with glittering commercial skyscrapers.

Melbourne’s tallest building has the Rialto Observation Deck on the 55th floor, soaring 253 metres above the CBD and offering 360 degree panoramic views of the city, suburbs and to Port Phillip Bay.

This grand Edwardian baroque  building called Flinders Street Station has become a famous Melbourne landmark, as well as one of the busiest train stations in the southern hemisphere with 15 platforms, 4 floors and 1450 trains in and out every day.

St Paul's Cathedral is built in the revival of the style know as Gothic  transitional architecture, being partly Early English and partly Decorated; a heritage site of international importance attracting thousands of people a year.

Princess Bridge is an important landmark as well as social significance, being a symbolic entrance to the city of Melbourne.

Victorian Arts Centre is Melbourne’s predominant cultural landmark and foremost venue for cultural performances such as ballet, opera and concerts.  It also encompasses the Arts Complex and the National Gallery of Victoria.  In the evenings the 115 metre high Arts Centre spire is ‘set on fire’ using fibre-optics, creating a magical spectacle.

The Southgate area, opened in 1992, is a reflection of Australia’s cultural diversity. Stylish and cosmopolitan, the area offers visitors and locals alike the choice of restaurants, bars, shops and entertainment.  Stroll along the promenade and enjoy the views of the Yarra River and the city skyline mirrored in its waters.

The Crown Casino complex offers lavish accommodation, luxury shopping, fine dining outlets, a dazzling gaming area, cinemas and nightclubs; a real Las Vegas style gambling palace.

Gussets

The Shrine of Remembrance, located in Kings Domain Gardens, is a war memorial dedicated to all fallen service men and women from World War I to present day conflicts.  It’s a temple style structure with an eternal flame in the forecourt.

Luna Park's iconic ‘Mr Moon’ gate way is the entrance to this historic amusement park located in St Kilda and built in 1912, being the first of two Luna Parks still operating in Australia.  Attractions include a scenic railway, roller coasters, ferris wheels and carousels, many of which are heritage registered.
