Get up close and personal at Shark Bay in the world’s largest man-made lagoon system for sharks, or see Australia's only Polar bears in one of the most technologically advanced exhibits. Watch a water ski show, swim with dolphins or ride the triple loop Corkscrew rollercoaster. The Spit is a permanent land form, with the ocean on the eastern side and the Broadwater on the other. As well as home to the Southport Yacht Club and an ever increasing number of yachts, the classical hotels like the Palazzo Versace and The Sheraton Marina Mirage are located on The Spit. Under the iconic rooftop sails of the Marina Mirage complex you will find designer label fashion boutiques, fine dining or coffee shops, and galleries, gift and jewellery treasures. Main Beach is a stylish and wealthy beach-side area, offering a wide range of attractions. These include a fabulous beach, al fresco dining and unique shopping boutiques as well as the Broadwater, an expanse of 270 kilometres of navigable waterways. There are countless things to do on the Broadwater; go on a sunset cruise, set sail on an 84ft ship, take up an adventure with parasailing, diving or jet skiing, or just go fishing. Southport is situated just north of Surfers Paradise and is a great place to stay and visit if you want to be close to the action of the Gold Coast, without being in the heart of the clubbing action. There is a range of attractions for visitors from beautiful parkland, featuring picnic areas and walkways, to shopping malls and boutiques, as well as some modern cafes and restaurants. Australia Fair is a large shopping mall which features over 230 stores, supermarkets, food court, cinema and even a hotel, with Southport Mall featuring a range of shops and cafes for a relaxed and friendly day. GussetsWet & Wild is described as Australia's largest water theme park. It features water slides, pools and other attractions and is very much activity-oriented. Slides and pools heated in the cooler months, makes it summer all year round. The new thrill extreme zone area will get your pulses racing as you face the gigantic, king sized slides. An aquatic adventure playground in a Pirate theme is suitable for smaller children. Dreamworld is a day out for all ages. You can experience the Big 5 Thrill rides which include the Tower of Terror, the Giant Drop and the Claw.
